Rosa Gaia Saunders is video artist raised in Edmonton, Canada. At McGill University in Montreal, she studied English Literature and Cultural Studies, theoretically focusing on the disabled body in film. Shortly after University, Rosa moved to Chicago to be a digital media instructor while participating in, Avodah, a program focused on communal living and social justice. She worked at the not-for-profit organization Free Spirit Media, helping to run video, photo and documentary production programs at various High Schools in North Lawndale.

Rosa now works as a freelance videographer and editor, specialising in not-for-profit marketing and creative documentation of experimental or public performance art. Her work has been screened or exhibited at Venice International Performance Art Week, Chicago Cultural Center, Lincoln Center in NYC, Defibrillator Performance Art Gallery (DFB) and the NIghtingale Theatre. She served as the director of documentation for the Rapid Pulse International Performance Art Festival this year and has done videography, photography and editing of many events at DFB. Rosa created an installation for the Zephyr Dance performance, Allowances and Occurrences. She recently documented Out of Site, a summer festival of public art in Wicker Park, and made short, creative edits of the 12 weekly performances for a screening at a local independent cinema. She recently finished an internship at Kartemquin Films, and is currently working various documentary projects and experimental video installations.
