Fo Wilson: (Folayemi) uses constructed space and furniture forms to create experiences that reposition historical objects and/or aesthetics in a contemporary context and offers audiences new ways of thinking about and interacting with history. Wilson earned a MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and is an Associate Professor at Columbia College Chicago. She was honored as a 2015 3Arts awardee, and received a 2016 Graham Foundation grant. Wilson lectures about art, design and craft to international audiences, and her writing and reviews have appeared in NKA, Journal of Contemporary African Art, the International Review of African American Art (IRAAA), and Communication Arts. Wilson was the 2013-14 Inaugural Faculty Fellow at the Center for Black Music Research (CBMR) and has been awarded residencies or fellowships at ACRE, Haystack Mountain Center for Craft, Purchase College/SUNY Purchase New York, and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. She has been a grant recipient of Creative Time, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Propeller Fund, and her design work is included in the collection of The Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design. Her current long-term installations include, Eliza’s Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities, at the Lynden Sculpture Garden in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Sounding Bronzeville, a public work commissioned by the Field Museum and Chicago Park District in the park's Burnham Wildlife Corridor in Chicago. fowilson.com Mosnart: is an ongoing art project by JB Daniel. Visiting artists are encouraged to participate in the constraints and opportunities the venue offers by constructing installations of exceptional art in a transom above the front door of an 1880's Pullman's worker flat. Occasionally the art spills out into the community in various ways allowing for interesting interactions between the artists, art, architecture, and community. Ever expanding venues include the Hotel Florence, Pullman factory site, Market Square, public and private spaces, and more. mosnart visiting artist project Terrain Biennial: Founded in October of 2011 by artist Sabina Ott and author John Paulett, Terrain Exhibitions and the Terrain Biennial repurposes private spaces such as front yards, porches, or windows, turning them into public spaces in order to foster dialogue between neighbors and provide opportunities for artists and viewers alike to experience new perspectives. Terrain has hosted over 60 individual artist site specific projects and several group shows. The projects for the 3rd Terrain Biennial will range from sculptural installations to time-based performances to public interventions. A map of all locations and the dates of the openings for each neighborhood will be available at www.terrainexhibitions.com |
